The 10th ordinary session of the Governing Board of the Congo Basin Forest Fund (CBFF) held in Brazzaville from 6 to 8 June 2011.
During
the
9th ordinary session which took place in Libreville in November
2010, the Governing Board approved 25 projects related to the second call for
proposals for an overall amount of 63 million euro.
Following its 10th ordinary session, the Governing Board published an exhaustive list of 25 projects to be funded by the CBFF. This list includes 13 governmental and institutional projects from COMIFAC member countries, as well as 12 projects presented by NGOs. The Governing Board asked the ADB to finalize the funding process of these projects.
The CBFF was established in June 2008 to face climate challenges by reducing, and possibly reversing, the rate of deforestation in the Congo Basin, while fighting poverty. CBFF activities supplement some elements of COMIFAC Convergence Plan and thus, the CBFF operates in close collaboration with governments of Central African countries, regional organizations, technical partners of the Congo Basin, Development funding institutions, the civil society and the private sector. The CBFF is funded by the governments of Norway, United Kingdom and is managed by the African Development Bank.
Apart from the right Honorable Paul Martin, former Canadian Prime Minister and Professor Wangari Maathai, Nobel Peace Price winner (Co-Presidents of the fund), the Governing Board is made up of representatives of the Central African Forest Commission (COMIFAC), the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), the African Development Bank and donors.
Note. The French version is the Original one.
